In a time of rising living costs, growing inequality, and increasing distrust in institutions, financial and economic literacy has become far more than a personal skill, it is a cornerstone of social inclusion, democratic participation, and sustainable development.

ForumOne Association is proud to announce its engagement in a new initiative supporting youth and girls from institutional care through targeted financial and civic education. This work reflects our long-standing commitment to leadership, sustainability, and empowering the next generation to participate confidently in society and the economy.
Why Financial Literacy Is a Leadership Issue
Young people leaving institutional care face systemic disadvantages. Many enter adulthood without access to practical financial knowledge, support networks, or opportunities to understand how economic systems affect their lives. For young women in particular, this often results in heightened vulnerability to poverty, debt, and economic dependence.
Financial literacy, when combined with civic education, becomes a powerful leadership tool. It enables young people to understand their rights, navigate labour markets, engage with public institutions, and make informed decisions that shape both their personal futures and the societies they live in.
From Financial Skills to Financial Citizenship
ForumOne’s engagement supports an educational programme that reframes financial literacy as financial citizenship—the ability to understand, question, and participate in economic systems within a democratic society.
Through interactive workshops and peer-based learning, participants explore topics such as:
Personal finance and independent life planning
Labour rights and fair working conditions
Public budgets, social welfare, and public accountability
Digital finance and online financial safety
This approach goes beyond budgeting. It builds critical thinking, confidence, and agency—key competencies for responsible leadership and active citizenship.
Supporting Girls Where the Gap Is Widest
By focusing on adolescent girls living in institutions for neglected children, the initiative addresses one of the most overlooked groups in youth development. These young women are rarely included in mainstream leadership or financial education programmes, despite facing some of the highest risks of social and economic exclusion.
ForumOne believes that leadership development must be inclusive. Supporting those furthest from opportunity strengthens not only individual futures, but the resilience and fairness of society as a whole.
Aligning with Sustainable Development Goals
This engagement directly contributes to several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including:
SDG 4 – Quality Education
SDG 5 – Gender Equality
SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
By investing in financial and civic education for marginalised youth, ForumOne reinforces the link between sustainable economies, democratic institutions, and inclusive leadership.
A Call to the Business and Leadership Community
ForumOne Association invites business leaders, educators, and partners to recognise financial literacy as a shared responsibility. Supporting young people, especially those facing structural barriers is not only a social commitment, but a strategic investment in future workforces, ethical leadership, and democratic stability.
Empowered young women do not only manage money better. They participate more, lead with confidence, and contribute to more resilient and inclusive societies.
At ForumOne, we believe that sustainable leadership starts with equal access to knowledge, dignity, and opportunity.
